We wouldn’t dream of operating our store anyplace other than in the Elm City in the shops at Yale. New Haven has over 2,000 acres of parkland nestled right along Long Island Sound. It’s the largest port between New York and Boston. As children, we remember finding horseshoe crabs on the shore. We remember sailing from Long Wharf into the Sound. We remember romping through East Rock State Park and fishing at Lake Wintergreen, and we remember climbing Sleeping Giant to see all the way down to the harbor on clear, sunny days. We loved every second of it.
Patagonia New Haven is proud to call its city home, and we’re excited to contribute to the city’s thriving culture. Ours is a city of adventurers, of ingenious inventors. The first steamboat, first modern lollipops, and first frisbees were all invented in New Haven. Ours is a pioneering spirit with a love for wild places, and we’re excited to gear you up for that.
But more importantly, we’re excited to help to preserve and revitalize our city’s spaces, including our lush and verdant forests and our untamed, gorgeous shoreline. Estuarine environments are among the most biodiverse in the world, and New Haven is built on the coast at the mouths of three rivers. Preservation is crucial. We take seriously our commitment to protecting these spaces, and we look forward to partnering with our community in the process.
